Talented WomenCandidate databases and board opening listing have emerged as disruptive methods for boards to find candidates over the last few years.

Make sure you have your Board Bio and CV and your board valuation statement in great shape so that you can use these documents in applying and registering. Some of these are free to registrants, and others have a fee.  If you need assistance with your bio and CV, Women2Boards can assist you.

Athena Alliance

Prepares executive women for the board selection & enhance their public presence. Expand the networks of boards & top executive women. They actively connect boards and qualified women in their memberships.  Membership fees.  Women2Boards CEO is  Chief Journey and Strategy Advisor for Aspiring Director Members of The Athena Alliance. To be accepted in their program you must complete their assessment.   Creation of your Board Bio and CV is part of their program.

Board Bona Fide – Boardwise – The Global Governance Community

Once you complete their Board Bona Fide candidate assessment, you are automatically enrolled in their Board Bona Fide registry, a database for aspirational candidates who wish to be considered for positions in the future. If a company contacts Boardwise to conduct a search of their private registry and your profile is a strong fit, they will contact you to see if you would like your name put forward. If you say yes, then they will put you both in touch. They are not a search firm and do not receive fees for their candidate availability service.  Fees apply for the candidate assessment.

Board Options

To be accepted to Board Options, Inc. Global Board Match, individuals must submit their resumes and then complete a questionnaire. A staff member from Board Options, Inc. then follows up with a phone interview. No fee for candidates to join.  Fees for corporations to be matched with candidates.

The Boardlist

The Boardlist is a curated resource for tech CEOs and investors to recommend and discover highly-qualified, peer-endorsed women for private, growth-stage boards launched. #choosepossibility is a project to recognize and mobilize top female talent in the tech industry.

Board Prospects

An online database for board members, prospective board members and corporations to connect with one another and share the latest information in boardroom news, education, best practices and recruitment opportunities. No fee for candidates to join, fees for information about board openings.  Fees for corporations to advertise and access the database.

Diverse Directors Database (3D) through Equilar’s Diverse Board Network

A database for corporate director candidates started by CalPers and CalStrs to increase diversity. Began operating through Equilar in late 2016. No fee for candidates to join.  Fees for corporations to access the database through Equilar.

Forté Foundation sponsors a database of board-ready women as a result of a partnership with international business schools.  If you are not a graduate of one of these schools, you can apply to become a member, provide two references and it will be reviewed to determine if you will be accepted.   No fee for candidates.

The Women’s Forum of New York

A database of CEO-sponsored women qualified candidates.

Kellogg Center for Executive Women’s Director Candidates 

This database is provided as a service of the Kellogg School of Management’s Center for Executive Women to assist companies in their search for qualified women executives to sit on their boards of directors. This unique database is maintained and kept up-to-date by the candidates themselves. It is used by the Center to identify qualified candidates and make recommendations to companies seeking directors.

Stanford Women on Boards Initiative

A LinkedIn Group used as a referral resource for those conducting corporate director searches with the goal of promoting the candidacy of Stanford educated women.

The Boston Club Corporate Board Program

Identifies and recommends qualified women to fill public and private corporate board openings.

Women Business Leaders 

A national non-profit organization bringing together a peer group of senior executive women from all parts of the healthcare industry.

Women in the Boardroom

Providing senior-level executive women with tools, knowledge, and connections for corporate board service for a fee.  Access to board openings with VIP memberships.

Catalyst Corporate Board Resource – Canada

Participating member CEOs have the opportunity to sponsor board-ready women for corporate director positions, access a premier directory of CEO-recommended women board candidates, and share board opportunities with other Catalyst member companies.

An online recruiting service dedicated to discovering and matching the best people a board.

Women on Boards – Australia

 A membership organization which provides lists of open board positions, public and nonprofit in Australia.   Fee applies for candidates.  No fee for advertising of board openings.
